Every pound, accounted for.
People rightly ask whether gifts to a climber's charity pay for the climbs. They don't. Here is exactly how money moves through the foundation, who pays for what, and where to check our accounts.

Gift Aid on UK taxpayers' gifts
Four sources of money. Kept apart.
Public gifts → 100% to students
School and university fees, books, uniforms, meals, mentoring and family support in crises. Fees are paid directly to schools and universities wherever possible.
Running costs → paid privately
Staff, administration, the new US foundation, marketing, photography and this website are covered by private supporters who give specifically for that purpose.
Expeditions → paid by sponsors and Maria
Each climb has a title sponsor covering permits, oxygen, guides and travel. Donations never fund a climb.
Book and keynote income → a stated share
Maria's books and talks are published and booked through Beyond Boundaries. A stated share of the net proceeds is given to the foundation and reported here each year.
Five years of the UK charity, in full.
From 2020 to 2024 the UK charity raised £290,830 and spent £452,090 on its work, drawing on reserves and funds raised in earlier years. Monthly giving through Base Camp is how we close that gap.
